Tak Goo is searching for his mother who had been kidnapped when he was a little kid. His mother was the mistress/maid/nurse to the CEO of a famous bread company (Samhwa Enterprise). When she is discovered to be pregnant, she is thrown out of the house (by the wife and butler) and she must raise Tak Goo on her own The legitimate son (Tak Goo's half brother) has the unexpected pressure of proving his self to his father when the CEO discovers that Kim Tak Goo didn't die at birth and he's alive. The half brother is jealous of the quick bond his father and Tak Goo form and it's noticed. To make Kim Tak Goo go away, the CEO's wife and the butler threaten Kim Tak Goo like they threatened his mother when she was still pregnant, things go wrong and his mother truly goes missing. Kim Tak Goo runs away from the CEO's 'family' and doesn't want to be part of it and focuses his life (since he was 12) to finding his mom, who could very well be dead.
One thing he can't escape is the gift of smell he possesses and his love of bread. When he grows up, while he's still searching for his mother, he becomes an apprentice to one of the most recognized bakers in Korea. The other apprentice is his half brother using a different name.
You can never get bored of this drama. The acting is good. The characters have lots of depth and I found the romance unique. I cried in this drama, and most of all, I cringed and had to take many breaks while watching to just catch my breath! And you will definitely hate the villains of the show and want Kim Tak Goo to win. It was really thrilling to watch. I definitely recommend. I do wish someone was next to me so I could just shut my eyes and make the other person watch for me. So much heartbreak here, but ahhh, the magical happy ending at the end made it all better.
Dramafully: 5/5
