Being the second Korean Drama I've ever watched (after Boys Before Flowers), this drama has a special place in my heart. I know that most people either love it or hate and I'm in the former group, but I will try to give an unbiased opinion. For those of you who aren't familiar with this drama, it's about a popular Korean band that is looking to add a member to its group of three. Their first candidate, Go Mi Nam, happens to be out of the country getting surgery. In order to help her brother reach his dreams of becoming a singer, his twin sister, Go Mi Nyu, joins the group in his stead. From there, we follow this band as their fame continues and Go Mi Nyu's tries to keep her secret from being discovered until her brother recovers.
What makes this drama awesome is the range of characters. Go Mi Nyu is the innocent and slightly oblivious nun-to-be when she gets scouted by Manager Ma. Hwang Tae Kyung is our band leader, yet neurotic, OCD, and slightly strange male lead. His quirky personality isn't so apparent in the beginning, hidden behind a more grouchy persona. It really makes me wonder how he made it big in the industry with such an unfriendly personality, but then that's part of what makes this fun. The other two band mates, Shin Woo and Jeremy, add to the mix with their light-hearted demeanor. Shin Woo is our second lead and sweet and lovable as the yellow lab, Jolie. Sometimes you just want to walk up and pat their heads. Jeremy is more of a comic relief, very spastic and "English" with his constant eating, hugging, and sloppy manners (which I find kind of amusing that the English are exaggerated as such).
The plot itself is a fun one because although there are many cross-dressing dramas out there, this one tries to strive for being cute and enjoyable rather than being serious and angsty (such as Coffee Prince). The music might get tiring after a while, but months after you finish the drama, you'll find yourself humming "As Ever" while doing the dishes. And who doesn't love pig-rabbit, the doll and metaphor that represents Mi Nyu? Which I totally don't have one sitting on my coffee table at the moment >.>
Some of the downsides to this drama is the conflict that entwines Mi Nyu and Tae Kyung which involves a relationship between their parents. I really didn't enjoy this part of the plot because I thought it was a little excessive. I can see the mommy issues that Tae Kyung was working through, but then to involve a scandal that really didn't make too much sense and was overly exaggerate? Yeah, definitely a down-side. These are the parts that you skip when you re-watch it because it brings down the drama.
So overall, I think we agree that this drama is a 4/5. Definitely one to watch and if you are like one of the many, to fall in love with!
